The Story Behind Heartfelt Primary
Why I chose to build tools that help children know who they are early
My Founder Story
This video shares the moment I realized how missing emotional tools shaped my childhood and my adulthood. It shows how working with toddlers and learning SEL as an adult changed how I understood identity, boundaries, and emotional clarity.
Meet the Founder
My name is Benju Kakar
I am a former preschool teacher who spent years in classrooms with toddlers, watching them express their needs with more honesty than most adults.
I also spent seven years in a mentally abusive relationship where I let someone else define who I was what I felt and why I behaved the way I did
I did not think I deserved better until one quiet moment, when I finally thought
”I do not think I deserve to be treated this way”
I left that relationship with love for children and almost no tools for myself
I learned about boundaries from toddlers first
I learned to use those boundaries as an adult when friendships, family and romantic relationships were stealing my joy and draining my peace
Social-emotional learning helped me rebuild my identity
Now I create tools so your child can build theirs much earlier
My mission is simple:
Help children know who they are early, deeply and confidently, so no one else ever gets to decide for them
What I Want Parents to Take From My Story
Children are not confused
Toddlers know what they feel. They show it clearly. We teach them to trust or ignore their own voice.
SEL is identity training
When kids learn how to name what they feel and what they need, they protect their peace and their confidence for life.
Parents do not need perfection
Kids learn social-emotional learning best when parents learn with them because we are human and growth is natural.
Why This Story Matters for Your Child
The early years are when identity forms. From 18 to 48 months, kids absorb emotional patterns faster than at any other time. A child who learns to name feelings and set boundaries at three grows into an adult who does not let the world define them. This story sets the tone for what Heartfelt Primary stands for and why our work centers on protecting the inner voice of the child.
